Beginnings are never easy

It was a tough week for the Uganda team in the very beginning. The four young people were faced with both physical and mental challenges because of the completely new environment and new people. But generally, they dealt with these changes with an optimistic spirit to get through this difficult period.

First of all, they had no electricity for three days long, after all the struggles ,,they finally got the power back on. "Finally we made it without electricity for this long time, now we can drink some beer eventually !!" Helene said, she is one of the team member, reported these difficult days back with excitement and proud .

Unfortunately, since the team arrived in Uganda, these days the rain never stopped, which made the beginning field work much harder than usual circumstance. However, the team never appeared to give up their spirit.

As everything came to be clear, the team finally able to hold a official conference with the local parties , they not only experienced a warm welcome ,also began to realize everything here was so different and the obstacles on their path to conquer cannot be easily ignored.

In order to get familiar with the local surroundings as soon as possible, the team decided to  spent time in the traditional Uganda kitchen for a good start .They got to know various vegetables and local food, also out of expectation they managed to serve the local people with self-made food around the table, as  they showed the positive attitude and determined mind to make the best of their project. The Uganda team began their work in a completely new country, which has hard and raw infrastructure, but they accepted this challenge and did well.

As all the local experiences are highly appreciated, the team talked to some interns that worked yearly for the NGO project, and gained some new views in general. Besides, they also talked to as many people as possible that involved in this project to get opinions from wider angles and perspectives.

The goal was changed from the 'sustainable development growth' to 'garden management'. As this is the true needed area that lack of professional assistant. The new goal 's feature includes something very detailed and professional , like how to use the soil properly, how do a test of vegetable seeding as so on. It mainly referred to the agriculture development in the Uganda local gardening process.

Gladly, the team has able to been in contact with the main supporter of one garden nearby, who was responsible finish a management plan in the end. The supporter himself was also quite relieved and happy to gained the assistant from our Uganda team, to help enhance the gardening system.

The beginning week was full of challenges but also laughter, the Uganda team was able to be friends with the locals and began their work smoothly.
